Senior Editor
Michelle Cottle has been a senior editor at The New Republic since February 1999, where she has written about everything from presidential politics to race riots to the evolving institution of Washington trophy wives. Prior to joining TNR, Cottle was an editor of The Washington Monthly from 1996 to 1998. During her decade-plus Inside the Beltway, she has written a TV column for Slate.com, a business advice column for The New York Times, an election column for AOL, and a catch-all cultural column for TNR.com. Her articles have appeared in publications including The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Times of London, Time, Newsweek, and New York magazine. A former co-host of CNN's weekly political show "Take 5" and former panelist for the PBS show "Tucker Carlson Unfiltered," Cottle is an erstwhile commentator for CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and Bloomberg News.
