Michelle Cottle has been a senior editor at The New Republic since 1999, where she has written about everything from presidential politics to race riots to the evolving institution of Washington trophy wives. Prior to joining TNR, Cottle was an editor of The Washington Monthly. During her time Inside the Beltway, she has written a TV column for Slate, a business advice column for The New York Times, an election column for aol, and a catch-all cultural column for tnr.com. Her articles have appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times, Time, Newsweek, The London Times magazine, and New York magazine, among other places. A former host of CNN's weekly political show Take 5, Cottle is an erstwhile commentator for CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and Bloomberg News.
