What Pollution In China Looks Like

Check out this astounding collection of photos by Lu Guang on China's pollution problem (and its severe toll on the country's people). This one below looks like some grotesque apocalyptic wasteland, but it's just the Yangtze River, brimming with untreated wastewater from a nearby chemical factory and flanked on both sides by cracked, contaminated soil:

Yeah Brad, I lived in China for 7 years in relatively clean Pudong, Shanghai (where the winds from the ocean kept the air a tad cleaner) and I got sick every few months. In 4 years in Mexico I have gotten sick only a few times. I once took a trip to Zhengzhou in Henan and got terribly sick, the air is foul there.
