The Edwards Saga Continues

Sunday's New York Times piece on John Edwards is fun reading, and includes some juicy details about the lengths to which Edwards' financial backers went to keep their candidate in the clear. Two other things were worth noting. First:

At the same time, Mr. Edwards is moving toward an abrupt reversal in his public posture; associates said in interviews that he is considering declaring that he is the father of Ms. Hunter’s 19-month-old daughter, something that he once flatly asserted in a television interview was not possible. Friends and other associates of Mr. Edwards and his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth, say she has resisted the idea of her husband’s claiming paternity. Mrs. Edwards, who is battling cancer, “has yet to be brought around,” said one family friend...

If true, this does not put Elizabeth Edwards in the best possible light, although the following detail does make you wonder about Ms. Hunter:

Ms. Hunter gave her daughter the middle name Quinn, and people who have spoken with her said its resemblance to the Latin prefix for five was to proclaim that the baby was Mr. Edwards’s fifth child. (He had four with Mrs. Edwards, the oldest of whom was killed in a car accident).

Ooookay.

It would be "fun" and "juicy" if the target of the humiliation was Glenn Beck. Instead, Time magazine puts this Nazi entertainer on its front cover. On the other hand staring at this clown with his tongue dangling out like a Gene Simmons wannabe is just as humiliating. I wonder if Glenn knows this. Or maybe Glenn planned it. Is the joke actually on the politically stunted dingbats who worship and adore him?

The whole fucking world today is like reading Alice In Wonderland on LSD while channel surfing the 1,569 media outlets with nothing on.

Maybe someday John, Elizabeth, Rielle, Kip, Quinn and all the rest of them will show up on the Family Feud. There is still money to be made here if they pa ... view full comment

Enough of the Glen Beck crap-I'm a GOPer, the man is off his rocker. I never listen to him. I find him of very limited intellect. However, I do listen to most of your lefties: Stephanie, Ed and Rhandi on radio and Rachel and Keith on TV. I can tell you, very limited intellects there. Most are also off their rockers. They're all, essentially, angry and mean. So, who's better.

What is fun about a good man, Mr. Edwards, in a moment of weakness, ruining his family, his life and his legacy? I thought John's two-Americas meme was silly. However, he loves America, believes in the truth of his side and fought hard for it.

Who cares about his attempt to cover-up his child? Who wouldn't have ... view full comment

Enough already with Edwards. I happen to live with 30 miles of the man and few if any around here care anymore what he does or doesn't do. He's not in office nor will he ever seek nor win office. Let it go. North Carolinians have except for the radical right wing.

I hear you, I hear you. Enough of Edwards' sordid shenanigans. Let me just say one more, possibly, nay, positively ill-advised thing: If this is all true, if it is true that Edwards was factoring in his wife's possible [imminent] demise as a talking point to calm his needy girlfriend, then the guy has sunk to depraved depths of human manipulation. The guy is scum, dirt, excrement.

One last comment: If Edwards was going to throw it all away, shed all dignity and decency and shit all over his sick wife and family, then one would think that he would at least find someone better than this harridan that now has him by his pliable nuts. Perhaps a vacuous beauty queen. I know that I am showing a we ... view full comment
